CHAAL.CHAAL.AGENCY is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Sebastián Trujillo-Torres and Kruti Shah, who founded it in 2017 in Ahmedabad (India) after completing their master’s degrees. It arose in dissidence to a landscape of practice that not only does not provide for the great majority but also reinforces structures of power sustained by processes of marginalisation and disenfranchisement. Therefore, a model of practice emerged through experiments that operate at the intersection of art and infrastructure as a way to DEMOCRATISE DESIGN.

THE PRACTICE

Our work is based on processes of participation and inclusion of social groups that otherwise have a diminished voice. By either directly incorporating these stakeholders into planning and design processes or focusing on surfacing the value they possess, CCA strives towards a collaborative-based approach in the construction of our cities.

We support groups and individuals in transforming their built environments, empowering marginalized communities to reimagine their spaces. Specializing in participatory engagement, we bridge citizens, grassroots organizations, academia, private entities, and government bodies. Through dialogue and collaboration, we tackle complex spatial challenges with inclusive, community-driven approaches.
